Our Commitment to Ensuring Student Privacy
The Clearinghouse approach is designed to enhance student privacy. To
obtain student enrollment confirmations, companies will be required to sign
contracts with us that warrant that they will:
- Request enrollment confirmations only for students who have applied
for or received products, services or employment that depend upon
verification of enrollment
- Limit the use of enrollment confirmations to their own
enterprise.
By logging onto the Web site with their passwords, we are assured of the
identities of the inquirers (difficult to do for telephone inquiries).
The Web site asks requestors to provide student identifier information.
We will not confirm addresses, nor will we confirm the accuracy of their
Social Security numbers.
Under no circumstances will we provide student lists for marketing
purposes. We will only release unblocked directory information, unless the
requesting company certifies that they have students’ consent.
